AC Shadows Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre partnership that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of forbidden rituals and monstrous transformations echo through the shadows." The narrative features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden sect.
The questline centers on "bizarre trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Extra Content
Players who finish the quest will acquire an special katana in addition to several objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Content
This update also introduces the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
